God is
Able
Ephesians 3:14-20
For
this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus
Christ, 15 from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is
named, 16 that He would grant you, according to the riches of
His glory, to be strengthened with might through His Spirit in the
inner man, 17 that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith;
that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may be able to
comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and
depth and height— 19 to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge;
that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to
Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or
think, according to the power that works in us,
Many
of us are thinking one-sided in asking God to answer our prayers and petitions
but fail to search the scriptures to see how we must live and walk up right.
Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of
God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to
God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be
conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that
you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will
of God. There is an order to receiving the things that we ask and pray for. Psalm
19:14 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be
acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
Our souls must be transparent before the Lord. Are we angry at our brother or
sister, plotting evil, speaking ill of others, or listening to ungodly talk?
Are we holding grudges, envy or jealousy in our hearts? Our hearts and minds must
be clean before the Lord. 1 Peter 4:8 And above all things have fervent
love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.”
When
we obey God’s Word He is glorified and is pleased with us. We are His creations
and are submissive to Him. God is our creator the Omnipotent. He desires for us
to know Him because He loves us and has a divine plan to save us through His
Son Jesus. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall
short of the glory of God, Ephesians 1:3-6 Blessed be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, 4 just
as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we
should be holy and without blame before Him in love, 5 having
predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to
Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will, 6 to the
praise of the glory of His grace, by which He made us accepted
in the Beloved.
We
must humble ourselves before the Lord and dwell in His presence. He wants us to
love and know Him beyond the things that we ask and pray for. He is seeking
those hearts who love Him because He desires to show us more when we seek the
kingdom of God. Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you,
and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’ We are
called to live holy as He prepares us for His good works. He has a work for the
righteous, but we tend to ignore these kinds of messages because we are still
thinking one sided.
As we
grow in our intimacy with God our carnal minds will no longer control us.
Because our spirit man will become stronger in desiring to please God. The Word
of the Lord is written to teach and instruct us in the things of God and warn
us of what will happen if we disobey. We are children of God, and our lives
must bear fruit so that our testimonies will inspire others to believe in
Jesus.
As Christians,
we tend to learn from fellow Christians what certain Bible scriptures mean.
However, the Lord is calling us to pray to Him for wisdom, knowledge and
understanding of His Word. When we accept Christ, we have the Holy Spirit
dwelling within us. John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I
shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the
Father, He will testify of Me. We must pray to the Holy Spirit to help us,
because He is our present help at all times. 1 John 2:27 But the anointing
which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that
anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all
things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you,
you will abide in Him.
Our souls are sealed to the Holy Spirit
until the day of redemption. Therefore, we must not grieve Him by ignoring to
yield our will to submit and obey. He knows how to help us, teach, comfort, and
keep us in the will of the Lord. He is the Spirit of truth. He is the Holy
Spirit in the Godhead. There is one God in three persons. The triune God, the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. They are co-eternal, co-equal in nature, essence,
and attributes. They each have a specific work in a believer’s life according to God’s plan of salvation in
Christ.
God’s grace is infinite in our lives and
was given to us as a gift to save us. Our faith in Jesus justifies us and we
are declared righteous by God. He has granted us His righteousness by our faith
in Christ as our Savior. We can come humbly to the Father to pray and ask
anything in Jesus’ name. John 15:16 You did not choose Me, but I chose
you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit,
and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the
Father in My name He may give you. This is a part of our inheritance to be
able to come to our Father, God. Jesus’ blood has reconciled us to God. Ephesians
1:7 In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins,
according to the riches of His grace Matthew 26:28 For this is
My blood of the new covenant, which is shed for many for
the remission of sins.
Our
lives must produce fruit as we surrender our will and follow Christ. The Word
of the Lord is a lamp and light to our steps to Christ. His Word is living, and
we must meditate in it and study the life of Jesus. We are ambassadors of
Christ and have been given the ministry of reconciliation. We must stand on the
Word. Remember, He chose us before the foundation of the world. The power of
God put this divine plan into time to unite all things in heaven and earth
together in Christ. Colossians 1:20 and by Him to
reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things
in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Ephesians
1:10 that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He
might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in
heaven and which are on earth—in Him.
We must
lay aside those things which so easily beset us. We must press toward the call
of God in Christ. Every person is running for the prize which is the crown of
life. James 1:12 Blessed is the man who endures temptation;
for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of
life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him. 2 Timothy 2:5 And
also if anyone competes in athletics, he is not crowned unless he competes
according to the rules. 1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise
profits a little, but godliness is profitable for all things, having
promise of the life that now is and of that which is to come. When we abide in
God’s Word it will produce fruit in our lives. The love that God shows us is
His eternal love and grace. We don’t deserve it, but by grace we have this hope
of glory to keep running until we cross over into eternity.
We
serve a living God who is watching over the fruit of the harvest. Let us love
one another, forgive, and repent for our sins. We must love God more than the
things we hope and pray to see in this life. Because these material things are
temporary. 1 Peter 1:24-25 because “All flesh is as grass, And
all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its
flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures
forever.”
Lastly,
we must trust God and guard our faith in Christ. We live in a wicked world full
of darkness and sin. Our adversary who is Satan is a created being who does not
sleep nor rest. We worship and reverence the one true God who created
everything. Colossians 1:15-18 He is the image of the invisible
God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all
things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities
or powers. All things were created through Him and for
Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things
consist. 18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is
the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have
the preeminence. Therefore, we must not turn from the truth. John 14:6 Jesus
said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the
life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. Therefore, by the
living power of God who is within us is able to do all things according to the
counsel of His will.
