Teach Us
to Number Our Days
Ephesians
5:8-16
For
you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as
children of light 9 (for the fruit of
the Spirit is in all goodness, righteousness, and
truth), 10 finding out what is acceptable to the
Lord. 11 And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of
darkness, but rather expose them. 12 For it is shameful
even to speak of those things which are done by them in
secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made
manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is
light. 14 Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the
dead, And Christ will give you light.” 15 See then that you
walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the
time, because the days are evil.
Lord, we
are grateful for Your gift of salvation and grace. We come humbly before You to
seek Your guidance and understanding of the scriptures that are not clear to
us. Help us to hold on to the hope that we have in You. Many seasons have
passed and we’re still here by Your grace and mercy. We thank You for
everything because we are like blind sheep waiting for Your Word and Your
coming. Matthew 24:44 Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is
coming at an hour you do not expect. Hebrews 9:28 so Christ
was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly
wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
We see
that the world is growing more wicked, and the days are passing quickly.
Families are not speaking nor gathering in love. The hearts and minds of many
have grown wax cold, people who once shared hand me downs, have no respect for
one another, even people who say they are a Christian walk pass one another,
because they don’t share the same doctrine, etc. Lord, our eyes are open to
what we are reading about the warnings written in Your Word. Luke 12:49-53
“I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already
kindled! 50 But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how
distressed I am till it is accomplished! 51 Do you suppose
that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather
division. 52 For from now on five in one house will be divided: three
against two, and two against three. 53 Father will be divided against
son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against
mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against
her mother-in-law.”
Many of us are experiencing these exact
things and the warfare is high in the atmosphere. But we must pray for
discernment and walk in the light. Even if it causes others to fall out with
us. Our souls are under attack and the enemy is using the people who are the
closest to us to start fights and arguments. Our love for God’s righteousness
is more important than appeasing our families, friends, people in high places
and the status quo. The Lord delivered us from the works of darkness, and we
must not bow down to the powers of darkness. 2 Corinthians 6:14-16 Do
not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has
righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with
darkness? 15 And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has
a believer with an unbeliever? 16 And what agreement has the temple
of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God
has said: “I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people.” Romans 13:11-14 And do this,
knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of
sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when
we first believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at
hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put
on the armor of light. 13 Let us walk properly, as in the
day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and
lust, not in strife and envy. 14 But put on the Lord Jesus
Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill
its lusts.
Saints, we are in a spiritual battle and
the evil in this world is grossly evil. There is no place among men where
darkness is not present. People are using the word that they are a “Christian” it has
become a catchy loose word. But we must not let our guards down, because we are
living in a time where the sheep and the goats look the same. Satan knows how
to put on a disguise and send his demons among the sheep. We must look closer
at the person’s spirit and inspect the fruit. Galatians 5:19-21 Now the
works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions,
jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions,
heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the
like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time
past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of
God.
There are so many Christians battling
with the works of darkness because they failed to inspect the fruit of the people
who they let into their lives and homes. These are dangerous times that we are
living. The world twenty years ago wasn’t as bad. It was a blessing to open our
doors to take a Christian in and give them housing, food, and help until they got
on their feet. But now the times were in it’s not safe nor is it wise to do
that same thing because the devil have recruited new people who are wiser and
more wicked to do his work. 1 John 2:18 Little children, it is the
last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even
now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour.
Matthew 24:24-25 For false christs and false prophets will rise and
show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the
elect. 25 See, I have told you beforehand. Satan has his children
running around mimicking the righteous. Exodus 7:8-13 Then
the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, 9 “When Pharaoh
speaks to you, saying, ‘Show a miracle for yourselves,’ then you shall say
to Aaron, ‘Take your rod and cast it before
Pharaoh, and let it become a serpent.’ ” 10 So Moses and
Aaron went in to Pharaoh, and they did so, just as the Lord commanded.
And Aaron cast down his rod before Pharaoh and before his servants, and
it became a serpent. 11 But Pharaoh also called the wise men
and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in
like manner with their enchantments. 12 For every man threw down
his rod, and they became serpents. But Aaron’s rod swallowed up their
rods. 13 And Pharaoh’s heart grew hard, and he did not heed them, as
the Lord had said. But no matter how much the powers of darkness is
running rampant, Jesus defeated and disarmed the powers of darkness. Colossians
1:12-14 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the
inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us
from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the
kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.
Our adversary Satan has only a short time
left and that’s why he never sleeps because he is trying to destroy all the
souls that he can to build his army to fight against Christ. But God has a plan
written for him. Many people do not preach on these scriptures for whatever
their reasons may be. But God wants His saints to know that the works of
darkness will not prevail. Satan is a created being who God created. Thereby,
the Creator is greater than the created being. Colossians 1:15-17 He
is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all
creation. 16 For by Him all things were created that are in
heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones
or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were
created through Him and for Him. 17 And He is before all things,
and in Him all things consist.
We cannot lose hope or sight of the
promises of God. His Word must be hidden in our hearts so that we will not sin
against Him. The Word is alive, and the Holy Spirit is releasing messages,
utterances, and scriptures to us throughout our day. But we are not as sensitive as
we should be because the noise that surrounds us is louder, and that’s why we
must be intentional and continue to seek the kingdom of God. This never stops
until we pass into eternity. Here in the earth everything is placed into time
which has a set number of days.
So many people believe that they will
live to be 50, 80, 100 or beyond a hundred years. Psalm 90:10,12 The
days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of
strength they are eighty years, Yet their boast is only
labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off, and we fly away. (verse 12) So
teach us to number our days, That we may gain a heart of wisdom. However,
God is the only one who has the power to grant us seventy years and more,
because time is a divine gift, and He is the one who controls time. Every
person is given a number of days and a purpose to fulfill in why God sent us
here. We must delight ourselves in the Lord. His Word has principles and laws,
and we must study and meditate in the Word daily to be successful in our
assignments, callings, purpose, gifts, talents, and ministry.
We are programmed by the world and that
is a huge hinderance in why so many fall by the wayside. God desires that we
praise Him because He created us to give Him glory. But naturally we follow the
world and seek the glory, fame, and the applause. This has been the destruction
for many who did not take heed to God’s warnings. They chose to enter the wide
gate. Matthew 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for
wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to
destruction, and there are many who go in by it. 14 Because
narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which
leads to life, and there are few who find it.
There is a set time for everyone to leave this side of the journey. John 11:25-26 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live. 26 And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” We must be like the watchmen preparing and training for the day of battle. Let us pray that our work will be done in the Lord. Behold the time is now that we should be sober-minded, vigilant, and anchored in the Lord Jesus. John 9:4 I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.
Chosen By God
Come and pray to Me my child
Lay down all your burdens
For they are many to be numbered
May your tears be used for mercy
As the Lord grants His blessings upon
your life
There will be a brighter and glorious
day
Although your heart may be weary
Come all to Me and trust My Word
The cares of life are no match for God
Mountains are movable they stand tall
Every sunrise and sunset I speak life
Your steps are ordered by the Lord
You are crowned from the top of your
head
Run to Me Oh precious one I am near
My grace is sweet and sufficient
