Forgiveness
Psalm 32:1-5
1 Blessed is he
whose transgression is forgiven,
Whose sin is covered. 2 Blessed is the man to
whom the Lord does not impute iniquity, And in whose
spirit there is no deceit. 3 When I kept silent, my bones grew
old Through my groaning all the day long. 4 For day and night
Your hand was heavy upon me; My vitality was turned into the drought of
summer. Selah 5 I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have
not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord,” And
You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
The price to pay God for our
disobedience is far more than we could fathom. Yet, David realized for the pain
and agony that he suffered for his wrongdoing and sins he confessed it to the
Lord. And God granted him mercy for his sins. Sin entered the human race
through Adam. He was the first man that God created and was given God’s
commands and the command to not eat the fruit from the Tree of the knowledge of
good and evil. We can all add our two cents of what happened and fault Adam for
disobeying God. But there is no one who could have done better but Jesus.
In the beginning of Genesis Chapter three Adam
and Eve disobeyed God’s command by eating the fruit from the Tree of the
knowledge of good and evil. Their eyes became open to what they had done, and
their minds were filled with new knowledge of good and evil. They lie to God
about what they had done by covering themselves with fig leaves. They both ate
the forbidden fruit from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil and were
punished by God the same day. The intimacy that they once shared with God meeting
and greeting them in the garden was cut off. They died spiritually because of
their disobedience.
According to God’s law
disobedience is sin. Yet, according to Cambridge dictionary the word
disobedience means: the quality of
being disobedient (= refusing to
do what someone in authority tells you
to do): However, God spoke to them what the consequences would be for them if
they disobeyed. The punishment for sin is death. Sin is something that God
hates, and He was clear about it. There are principles and spiritual laws that
God established to follow order and to teach us about Him.
He created man and that is the
order of how life began with man. We did not make God, nor do we realize how
intricate He made us. We are made in His image and likeness. He formed Adam out
of dust and blew breath into his nostrils and he became a living being. God is
supreme and Omnipotent, and He is perfect. As we ponder about this indelible
part of history Adam’s sin caused God to close his eyes and ears spiritually.
He and Eve experienced a spiritual death for their
disobedience.
Every since Adam’s eyes became opened man’s
eyes were filled with darkness and evil. There was a reason that God forewarned
Adam about the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Because He knew why He
made that tree and its purpose. God gave man free will to choose to obey or
disobey. We don’t have to know the “why” when God forbids us to do a
thing. He wants us to trust Him and obey. But in this case, we can see the
effects of one man’s disobedience that brought many offenses against God. This
is what sin did it allowed death to enter the world. The penalty for our sins is
death.
The Tree of the knowledge of
good and evil opened the portals of the spirit realm where spiritual hosts of
wickedness, darkness, powers, and principalities to enter the world and
activate the powers of darkness among the living. This is the battle we’re in
today. It is a spiritual war that we are born into when we come to this earthly
plane. The knowledge of good and evil comes with a price and are linked
together at the roots.
God made the Tree of the
knowledge of good and evil for His purpose.
Colossians 1:15-17 He is the image of the invisible
God, the firstborn over all creation. 16 For by Him all
things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and
invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities
or powers. All things were created through Him and for
Him. 17 And He is before all things, and in Him all things
consist.
Satan hide himself in the
serpent to disguise himself when he spoke to Eve. As she became interested in
hearing how she would be like God if she ate the fruit from the forbidden Tree.
We see that Satan was the spirit behind this evil plan to deceive Eve and
temped Adam to fall. Do we give into what we want and desire versus obeying the
Word of the Lord? There is always a choice because we have free will to choose
either to obey or disobey.
The Word of the Lord is our lamp
to guide our steps to follow Christ. We must study the scriptures and pray to
the Holy Spirit to teach us and give us understanding of what we’re reading. He
is the One who is sent by God to be our helper. When we love God and grow in
His Word, we will learn how the devil is crafty and cunning and know his
history. Our discernment will increase as we grow in our relationship with the
Holy Spirit. He will teach us all things and we will be more discerning of how
the enemy disguises himself with words to destroy us.
The enemy takes a part of the
truth and twists it and adds lies so that he entices us to go against obeying
God. We must get anchored in the Lord and learn the Word of God to understand
when and how the devil shows up in our lives to temp us and speak lies to
deceive us. When in doubt about something we must pray to the Holy Spirit to
show us the truth and the way to walk. He is our helper, and we are sealed to
Him for the day of redemption.
There are so many people who
have lost their lives for knowing the knowledge of good and evil. The enemy
deceives us and dresses things up to temp us with the lust of the eyes, lust of
the flesh and the pride of life. We have many religious cults, occults, black
market, drug wars, addictions, psychics, wizards, witches, serial killers,
rapists, pedophiles, etc. The spiritual hosts of wickedness are operating
through the knowledge of good and evil to lure and entice men to do good and
evil but only to deceive and destroy God’s elect.
There is no hurt or pain that
the Lord does not know about. Oftentimes, we think that because we cannot hear
God’s audible voice that He’s not paying us any attention, nor does He care
about what happens to us. We are so far away from the truth according to the
Word of the Lord. 1 Peter 5:6-7 Therefore humble yourselves under the
mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, 7 casting all
your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
But God so loved the world that He sent His only Son, Jesus to save
us. John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His only
begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have
everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to
condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. This was
God’s divine plan to rescue us from eternal death and eternal damnation. Romans
5:18-21 Therefore, as through one man’s offense judgment
came to all men, resulting in condemnation, even so through one Man’s
righteous act the free gift came to all men, resulting in
justification of life. 19 For as by one man’s disobedience
many were made sinners, so also by one Man’s obedience many will be made
righteous. 20 Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound.
But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more, 21 so that as
sin reigned in death, even so grace might reign through righteousness to
eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
God is the only one who can forgive us
for our sins. He demonstrated His faithfulness through His Son, Jesus. Now we
must live for Christ and seek Him first and all His righteousness shall be
added to us. Let us repent and be baptize as we walk in obedience to follow
God’s righteousness and forsaking all other loves, idolatry, passions, and
pursuing knowledge of good and evil for it is not profitable to save us from
eternal damnation only Jesus saves.
