I Thirst

I Thirst

            1 Corinthians 10:1-5

1 Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. 5 But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies were scattered in the wilderness.

Lord, please help us to want more of You. Our souls need Your peace. We’ve tossed and toiled here in the earth to only find more weight from our labors. We want things that our carnal eyes and minds thirst for. The pressure of trying to live the way of the world is depleting our empty souls.

Everywhere that we turn there’s all kinds of talk about this trend, technology, stocks and bonds, many theories, and more greed. Our minds have been inundated with how we should have this or that and how much savings we need to be able to retire. And yet, many of us are getting paid minimum wage and our monthly bills are piling up, and rent is rising. How in the world is this right and fair? There are so many questions that no one seems to know the answers. But it’s fair to say that the rich are getting richer, and the poor are just poor.

There is a scripture that comes to my mind Matthew 6:33-34 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. As we meditate on the Word, please help us to believe and trust You. Our hearts are filled with the world’s systems and processes. You know each of us and understand how You made us. Help us to see the spiritual things that will enlighten us to drink from Your living water. Your grace is sufficient, and You came to earth so that we may have life more abundantly.

Jesus, You are our only hope and refuge. Your Word gives us everything that we need but our flesh is fighting and resisting it. Lord, please help us to rebuke our flesh so that we may eat and drink from You. There is a well that lives within Your kingdom that never runs dry. Yes, we want to drink from the living well. Our hearts will be changed, and our lives will witness the light of God. John 4:13-14 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Our souls are crying out to You, Jesus when we cannot sleep at night. Some of us are near our breaking point of losing hope. Because we’ve been conditioned and programmed to live a certain kind of way that keeps us at the bottom because we lack resources, scarce opportunities, not enough education, wrong background, race, low class, and not enough experience. The list is endless, and the rules keep changing.

There is something for everyone if we seek You. Matthew 5:1-12 And seeing the multitudes, He went up on a mountain, and when He was seated His disciples came to Him. 2 Then He opened His mouth and taught them, saying: 3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 4 Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted. 5 Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth. 6 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled. 7 Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy. 8 Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God. 9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. 10 Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven. 11 Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

People of God our time is more valuable than any currency and perishable things. Our time have been given to us to find God and to do His work for which He created us for the Word of the Lord is the good news that we’ve been missing in our lives. We must wake up Jesus is risen. The kingdom of God is within us. Luke 17:20-21 Now when He was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, He answered them and said, “The kingdom of God does not come with observation; 21 nor will they say, ‘See here!’ or ‘See there!’ For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.”

There is a blessing for everyone who follows the Messiah. We believe by faith that Jesus is the Son of God and He died for the sins of the world and rose three days later from the grave. We are His sheep and must learn who our Shepherd is so that we will know His voice. John 10:27-28 My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand.

The Word is the living water that we must thirst for so that our minds will be renewed, and our empty souls will be filled with an everlasting life. There is no time to sit around wasting time and hoping to retire or feeling dejected because the world didn’t choose us. Think it not strange we have been called and chosen by the most high God. That is why we will never find contentment and rest in the world and fulfillment with material things. There’s an emptiness that’s inside us that is calling for our souls to be filled with truth and light. That’s where Jesus is calling out to us. We must pray, sit still, and listen and read the scriptures and tell Him that we love Him.

It starts there within us that’s the door to the kingdom of God. We must be intentional in seeking to find Him and give our love and time. Everything we need and want is already blessed and added to us, but we must first seek the kingdom of God. His Word is our daily bread, drink, and peace. Matthew 11:28-30 Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

There is purpose for our lives that will give God the glory. This is what matters the most in knowing that we have been given a special work and purpose to help build the kingdom of God. This is the mindset that must be in us. Learning about Jesus and allowing Him to feed us with His spiritual food, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. This places us with Him in heavenly places as we serve in our callings. Everyone is special and have been given their gifts, a measure of faith and their assignments from the Lord.

The Holy Spirit is our helper teaching us everything. We must thank Him and yield our will and trust. He is the Spirit of truth sent by the Father and Son to seal us to Him until the day of redemption. Therefore, we must understand that He is helping us to do God’s work and revealing to us how we must walk in the Spirit so that we will be victorious and bear good fruit.

In Between

As I learn to read God’s Word

I will seek to hear His voice

For my heart longs to know Him

He knows about me

Hallelujah I will sing praises

King of Glory I worship You

My soul releases a peace

While I bask in the moment

The Lord is my Lord

As the tears fall from my cheeks

 I know that He lives

My spirit connects to His Spirit

I will hold dear to such an experience

While I thirst to meet Him

My soul will rejoice and dance

I will continue to cry and cherish

Every moment like never before

This will be forever
